Therapeutic horticulture is the intentional use of plants, gardening and nature-based activities to support well-being.
It can provide opportunities to practice focus, emotional regulation, problem solving, confidence, communication and connection—all while doing something meaningful with your hands.
And that’s part of what makes it so powerful.
Plants are disarming.
There isn’t always pressure to sit across from someone and talk. We can work side-by-side. Hands can be busy. Bodies can move. There can be space for quiet.
Sometimes, when our hands are busy doing something meaningful, everything else gets a little quieter.
