For Children & Youth

A different kind of space to grow.

Not every child thrives sitting still at a table.

The garden gives children somewhere appropriate to move, touch, dig, create, explore and wonder while engaging in purposeful activities.

For children who have difficulty with attention, regulation, anxiety, confidence or sensory needs, that combination of movement, sensory experiences and meaningful work can create opportunities to slow down and engage in a different way.

Therapeutic horticulture experiences may support:

  • Emotional and sensory regulation
  • Focus and attention
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Problem solving and resilience
  • Independence
  • Social connection
  • Coping with frustration
  • Trying new things
  • A sense of purpose and accomplishment
